For your information to make you aware, there has been several reports to police regarding 'Purse Thefts' within Andover Town Centre. The most frequent kind of purse theft is 'handbag dipping'. where offenders remove purses from handbags left unzipped or unattended.

1. Don't carry large amounts of cash in your purse at anyone time.
2. Be mindful around cashpoints.
3. Be mindful of distraction, thieves working in pairs in order to divert your attention.
4. If your are a victim of purse crime, bank cards are often used by offenders very quickly, possible before the victim even realises.
5. Make sure you attend your bank provider to cancel stolen cards.
6. DO keep Purses &  bags closed at all times.
7. Carry your bag in front of you or diagonally across your chest.
8. DO NOT carry pin numbers inside your purse/wallet
Be alert at all times - Watch out there's a thief about!
