Carriageway Surface treatment A3057
Stockbridge Parish Council
Hampshire Highways will be undertaking carriageway surface treatment on A3057, Romsey Rd, Wherwell and Stockbrige Rd, Longstock 26th July for 5 days
As part of the annual programme of works being undertaken by Operation Resilience, HCC Higways will shortly be undertaking a carriageway surface treatment along 2 sections of the A3057. These are Romsey Road, Wherwell, from Fullerton Road to 1200m North and Stockbridge Road, Longstock, from the junction of Bunny Lane to 150m South. The purpose of the treatment is to return a surface texture to the carriageway, that in a recent condition survey was highlighted as being poor.
The treatment is also designed to regulate the shape of the road and seal the road structure from water ingress, which will help prevent potholes from forming. Hampshire Highways need to continue to deliver these works during the Covid 19 outbreak to ensure that the roads are in the best possible condition for when the restrictions are lifted and traffic volumes return to normal. The works are currently programmed to start on Monday 26th July and are expected to take up to 5 days, during which time the road will be closed to through traffic from approximately 09:00 on the 26th July through to 06:00 on the 30th July 2021.The road will be open outside of these hours.
These timescales are weather dependent and works programmes are susceptible to change. There may be times when HCC Highways have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. HCC Highways will always look to provide up to date information where possible but sometimes these last minute decisions can be difficult to relay to the travelling public in a timely manner. Any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained when possible and safe to do so, and small amounts of traffic in the early life of the treatment will not be detrimental. Pedestrian access to properties will not be affected, and emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, works will be carried out ensuring safe working practices, and social distancing between site operatives and members of the public are maintained at all times. The appropriate traffic management will be in place to prevent any interaction. Information signs advising road users of the works will be erected before the start of works.
